A new found respect for folks who make softies
And especially for those who write softie patterns (like you, you, you and you)
People who can imagine turning flat shapes into rounded ones
With a head, a body, a hump and four legs (albeit slightly splayed ones)
Who can help to create this kind of happiness
(Except she doesn't actually get to keep it. The toy is a gift for a camel-mad sixty year old man.)
Not sure I'll be making another one in a hurry. It was rather labour intensive.
But I do know it will be well loved.
Happy Sunday to you.
Andi xx
PS Camel pattern purchased here
It is brilliant - Pauline is a master at designing toys - she is fantastic with shapes.
ReplyDeleteWow he's fabulous!!! I am sure he will be truly loved!
ReplyDeleteYour spotted camel is just gorgeous. Well worth the work. I agree toys are fiddley.
ReplyDeleteOh! Andi he is stunning. I think there is someone in that last picture who thinks you should give it another go,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, I DETEST making softies.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is that I feel that exact same way about quilters!
ReplyDeleteI'm not good at softies, but did you know my sister has 5 camels as pets.
ReplyDeleteHi Andi, I am verrrrrry impressed you finished Chrissy as your first real softie - 'cos she is one of the hardest patterns I've made - but your camel looks amazing! : )
ReplyDelete(Thanks to Kate for the nice things you said!)
as a softie maker it is always nice to get "our art" acknowledged for its complexity! Thanks Andi for getting it and I reckon your camel is brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteI'm humming "Alice the Camel" now.
ReplyDeleteWonderful camel Andi. Looks like a fab pattern.
brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteAndi, you have nothing to be worried about - he is a rock solid excellent camel - and i love the spots.
ReplyDeleteTake a bow (and cut out another one)
ah.. I too have done the "splayed legs" to stand upright :) I was just happy that I managed to finish 3 reindeer in time for Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Do you mind me asking how the legs are attached that allows them to still be able to rotate on the body?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE camel softies, and this one came out beautifully!
