Resolution

My friend Kate keeps threatening to host an intervention every time I buy more fabric.

I know she's right ... especially since my husband is about to begin an unpaid sabbatical and I have left my job too. Also, I have more than enough fabric in my stash to keep me going for a couple of years.... easy!!

So, as much as it pains me to say this publicly, I WILL NOT BUY ANY MORE FABRIC IN 2010!!!

This is going to be extremely difficult for me. Especially with this gorgeous line coming out in a few months ...

But I'm really going to try.

After all, January is my birthday month, so imagine how much fun some guilt free birthday shopping will be if I manage to stick to this.

Wish me luck!!

Andi :-)

Good luck Andi! I hope you can make some lovely things with your beautiful fabric stash

Andi - I have my eyes on the new Momo as well...but, I like you cut myself off from any new fabric a few months ago until I use up most of my stash. I seem to work better with a little motivation...we'll see! You seem to whip up projects pretty quickly...so you might run out of your stash sooner than later - and maybe just in time for the new MoMo : )

alert the fabric shops, there is about to be a downturn in business!

Good luck with the resolution, I'm sure you'll turn out some lovely things from your stash. Stop looking at new fabric, lol.

Very sensible plan. I hope my husband doesn't hear about it! ;)

You might send the fabric industry into a recession!

Let me know if you get desperate towards the end of the year and I will send you some to tide you over until January!

Good plan! I've been doing a lot of sewing from stash actually, but I do still buy fabric too. Thrifted fabric doesn't count does it??

Wow, I admire your aim - best of luck!!!
Enjoy your stash busting!!

Phew! You're a stronger person than me, I find buying fabric is the only cure for P.M.T
Mind you...."swapping"isn't the same as "buying", keep that in mind if you start feeling withdrawal symptoms.

Very inspiring! I've been considering the same myself for a while...though not totally sure if this counts since we're considering turning my shop into a fabric shop! Eeeks!

you know what, I was meant to be doing this from the start of the year but as we both know I have been woeful at it, so starting now, I'm going to jump right back on that wagon and pull you on up with me. We can keep each other honest.

ps. my ban is also meant to apply to yarn and now fibre.

I've made that resolution many times but so far I always fell off the wagon. So good luck ;).

I shall be keeping a close eye on things...don't you worry!

But truly...there is something so satisfying about creating just from the stash. I find it quite theraputic!

You can do it!!

crap. Really? No more? Not even a tiny bit?
Oh, Andi, I'm worried about you. Are you ok? Are you sure you're not ill?

Well, good luck, but if she fall off the wagon just tell people Kate bought it for you, I blame her for your sudden lunacy! ;)

Good move Andi - because truly, there will always be more fabric that you find beautiful and lovely. You may miss out on something you think you desperately love, but in 6 months you will no doubt find something you love just as much or more! The satisfaction of making a bit of a dent in your stash will no doubt be large as well. Yay for you!

January is my Birthday month too. I am so crap with these resolutions. Besides - I plan to buy some Punctuation this weekend at a quilt show in Hershey, PA.

The fabric diet will be amazing creative drive - i didnt buy anything (except op shop) for first six months and it drove me to look and think and use existing fabrics (and i am reckoning my stash is a tenth of yours and my sewing ability a tenth too)... I am so looking forward to see what you make. Bring it on.

I am heading to the US in March, and as my fabric stash should last me till retirement, (I am only 39) I too have made that promise just two weeks ago. Cough cough. Then two charm packs of this very range arrived in the mail on Friday....I just dont know how that happened!! Now I need some yardage, but will have to wait for that....hope you have better luck than I at holding off!! :-)

Well, that's one resolution I won't be joining you in...or at least I can't promise to!! I have no self control WHATSOEVER and that would mean not going on blogs, flickr, twitter...anywhere that takes me to the lure of fabrics...I am in awe of your resolve...oh and good luck ;-)

Good luck Andi!

I don't have half the talent or commitment that you have, and yet I wasn't able to stick to my fabric diet this year. I'm hopeless.

Love looking at your creations though! Roll on January!
