We're all going on a ....

... cyclone holiday.

Booked months ago. Let's hope Fiji can offer up some better weather in a few weeks time.

In a spirit of optimism, I have made a pouch for our family's passport collection.

With a section for each of us ...

Still waiting for the kids' passports to arrive to fill their pockets.

It's my first time sewing with plastic stuff.

It took me a little while to work out I would need to use my machine's walking foot (doofus!) but after that it was relatively smooth sailing.

Of course, we are not only thinking of ourselves and our family at this time, but of all the families who are now in need as a result of Cyclone Tomas. If you would like to provide some financial support to victims of this disaster, you could try UNICEF or the ANZ Bank. (I'm certain there will be others too).

Give your loved ones an extra tight squeeze tonight.

Andi :-)

How I love Fiji. One of our favourite ever family holidays. I hope you have a great time.

And thanks for the encouragement re sewing with plastic. That stuff scares me too.

Have a safe trip, Andi! Those passportcovers are great! I have tried sewing with plastic, too. There certainly is a few tricks to it!

LOVE that passport holder. Such a great idea. I've had my machine for 2 years and never put the walking foot on. Way too intimidated. X

Love the passport holder-great idea! I can never work with plastic too well. Sometimes I put tracing paper in between the layers and it helps a little...

Great passport holder, I haven't seen one like that and it is great.

The passport holder looks great, my DD made one just like it now I need one. A tip I heard when sewing plastic is to put a bit of masking or painters tape under the foot, it stops it sticking to the plastic. I'm sure the dramas in Fiji will be over in time for your holiday.

Try a teflon foot for the sewing PVC, it's like butter & about $15, worth it for the tears!! Happy holidays, cute passport holder. I have a Cath Kidston one for our 6. Safe travels, love Posie

Your passport holder turned out beautiful, and what a great way to keep them all together. Just one more reason I need to get a walking presser foot. I keep telling myself I don't need one, but I should just stop fighting with myself an get it already!

That passport wrap looks fantastic!
What a clever idea.
Have a great trip! It's more of a tragedy when people cancel their trips because countries like that depend on tourists.

Love the idea of the passport pouch! It always makes me nervous having so many things that are so important and can't get lost. We have 8 passports for 5 people and I must get one of these happening for the next trip OS.
Looks beautiful! Kathy
