Friends

I have received some lovely gifts from crafty friends lately.

Bec gave me some lovely jewels that her daughter no longer wanted. There are more but Ella has already snapped them up in her treasure boxes.
Bec actually gave these to me ages ago. Sorry it has taken me so long to post about them Bec.

And Kate heard I might be interested in some vintage sheeting with pinks so she gave me this lovely lot.

Thanks girls!!

Some dear friends of ours had a little baby boy this week.
(When I say little ... he weighed in at just over 5kg .... that's about 11 pounds .....Hail Caeser!!!)

I made him a strippy quilt

With lots of boyish fabrics featuring dinosaurs, vehicles and animals!!

It has his name on the back .... Ezra Barak (no relation).
In Hebrew, Barak means 'lightening'.

Stipple quilted all over.

And of course, a matching cushion for the big brother Jake so he doesn't feel left out!!

And speaking of friends ... don't forget my friend Annie's special offer!!

Gotta love your friends!!!

Crafting with the kiddos

Inspired by a blog post a while ago (wish I could remember where I saw it .... Sorry!!) I decided to make some quilts with my kids.

I pulled a whole load of scraps from the scrap box, ironed them on to some fuseable webbing and cut out lots of little shapes using my pinking shears.

Then I had the children select the patches they liked, peeled off the paper backing to turn the pieces into stickers and place them on a square of white cotton.

The only rule I gave them was that the pieces shouldn't be touching.

Then I followed Amanda Jean's procedure for her Ticker Tape Quilt and put on a binding.

Fun!!

PS Have you checked out the great deal from Mango Lime yet?

Saving the world .... one poop at a time

I bet THAT got your attention!!

Well now you need to check out my friend Annie's new business Mango Lime - Modern cloth nappies with style.

How about wrapping some Echino on your bubba's bum!!

Or some Amy Butler!!

They'd be the most fashionable babies on the block.
And the most eco-friendly. These nappies are re-useable and earth friendly.

AND .... Annie is offering a 25% discount to Patch Andi readers until the end of February.
So, if you have little nappy wearers at home .... or have friends who do .... head over to Mango Lime and here's what you do:

  • Browse through all the gorgeous styles and pick the one/s you want
  • Pop them in your shopping cart
  • At the checkout, choose "request totals" as your preferred payment option. This means you don't pay until Annie sends you an invoice.
  • Then, send Annie an email via the "contact us" page to say you came from Patch Andi and she will send you an invoice with a 25% discount on your purchase.
 Easy!!

Happy shopping.

What use could my bum have for a denim mini skirt??

Not much ....

... unless I turn it into a new bag!!!

New pockets on the inside:

And I can still use the original pockets on the outside:

A 50c skirt from the op-shop is my new favourite bag!!

Have you done any re-purposing lately?

Smelly

.... but in a good way!

It is Dan's grandmother's birthday. She is a very sweet lady who lives in a smallish apartment and is VERY conscious of not getting into a clutter.

So I thought I'd make her some pot-pouri bags to make her undies smell pretty!!

Made using Little Folks voiles with a solid pink voile for the lining.

The contents is the dried remainders of my birthday roses with a little essential oil for extra smelliness!!

After the controversy of my last post, it's a relief to get back to a safer topic.

Happy birthday Nan!!

Love,
Andi xx

Dear KateJ

Thank you for your comment on my latest post.
What a shame you gave me no other way of contacting you to offer my response.

I agree with you. It is important to support local fabric stores as well as other crafts people.
Please see my recent posts here, here and here!!!!!

But as a buyer (both for personal and business purposes) it is hard to go past prices that are less than 50% of the local prices.

What price should we be expected to pay to support the local industry at all times?

What do other people think?

I want to give my postie a big fat kiss!!!

Look what was on my door step this morning!!!

Inside the smaller package was a small selection of Anna Maria Horner's "Little Folks" voiles from Lanie Jane. They are so very soft and silky to the touch.

Lanie will be re-stocking this range and I can't wait to buy some more.
Lanie's prices are the best I've found on these luscious fabrics.
Lanie even threw in a few bonus fat quarters.
Thank you so much Lanie. I am in fabric heaven!!!

Then on to the big box ....

Fresh Squeezed Fabrics have such a great selection of fabrics.
All my purchases were from the 'Sale' section of the shop and Randi even gave me a further 10% off. Yay!!!

I picked up a selection of 'boy' fabrics from David Walker's "Oh Boy" range

Some stunning florals (and a spot) by Jennifer Paganelli (just about my favourite fabric designer at the moment), Tanya Whelan,  and Anna Maria Horner (my other current favourite).

And guess what!!! Randi also threw in some extras for me to play with ...

A couple of fat quarters and some charm squares.
Thanks so much Randi. As Arnie says "I'll be back".

Hope your Tuesday is turning out as fun as mine.

Andi :-)
