Quilting games

I wanted to make my Jake something quilty for his birthday.
But he already has numerous quilts ...

So I thought I'd make one with a more practical use:

A games board for playing chess, draughts (checkers), etc.

With a mixture of straight line and free motion quilting.

I have made some little bean bags to use as draughts pieces.

But only 6 so far, so 18 left to make!!

The backs of the pieces have pictures of a crown for when a piece is 'kinged'.

And the back of the quilt uses some pieces I had in the stash including part of a gorgeous train panel for my train loving kid!

His birthday is during our family holiday so I want to try and get all the pieces (beanbags) finished before we leave.

Better get cracking!!!

Andi :-)

  1. Brilliant idea Andi! I used to have a beach towel you could play noughts and crosses on and it was fabulous! This quilt will bring many hours of entertainment and looks amazing! Happy holidays and travel safely! x

  3. They look awesome! I made one and used blue and green milk bottle lids for the playing pieces. It works good because if you loose a piece at the beach or something, you just drink another bottle of milk! Yours look way fancier though :)
